“Brilliant” |

This place is just brilliant, the villas are
beautifully designed and spacious and very
comfortable with lovely views over the lake and
hills beyond. The restaurant is also a lovely
building service food to match. The service is also
impeccable and friendly. Both the GM and the Chef
could be seen regular talking to the guests to
ensure all was well. We mentioned on our first day
that all the markets were full of large avocado
pears and could we have some the following day. The
chef promised to get some! The following evening we
asked and were told they were not ripe but hope they
would be for a third and last night. That night
arrived and chef came out to apologied that they
were still not ripe but presented us with a very
large pear for us to take with us and await its
ripening.
Well we took it for 3 nights at Nagapali (sp?) Beach
and it did not ripen. We took it on to Rangoon and
it still did not ripen. We took it onto Bangkok
without ripening. So we took it home to London and
pleased to report it did ripen and was a delicious
memory of our stay at this wonderful establishment
on our first evening at home! (also much tastier
than the Israeli mini pears that Sainsbury’s pass
off as Avocados)

“Amazing Resort on an amazing lake” |

Lake Inle is a magical place that deserves a magical
resort like Pristine Lotus Spa.
Situate on the north east corner of the 22 km long
lake, the resort nestles between the blue lake in
front and the green hills at its back. Cascades and
streams and polds cross the hilly property, and wind
down to the reception and large dining area. The
dining area is a open sided circular hut with
glimpses of the lake through the tropical foliage.
The buffet breakfasts are lavish, with a live egg
counter. In addition to European food, the dinner
menu carried Asian foods including Burmese, Indian,
Thai and Chinese. We ate an excellent smoked salmon.
Perhaps because the place is managed by a Dutch
gentleman, the cheeses are excellent. I was happily
surprised to find English Cheddar and Dutch Edam on
the cheese platter.
The teak wood chalets are located on the slopes of
the hills. Ours was spotlessly clean, and had a
large flat screen TV with cable. The lap top worked
in the lobby. The sunken bath tub and the hot
showers were small luxuries we looked forward to
after a day on the lake. The mosquito nets were more
ornamental than necessary, as we found none in our
room. There is a small attic space over the living
area which accommodated a floor bed, presumably for
the extra guest. The coffee and tea service in the
room was well stocked.
To visit the lake, we took a boat from the dock
which is located just across the road from the
resort. The hotel reception can arrange the trip,
and they are a must. This is a lake like no other.
Where else do you find floating farms and gardens,
not to mention quaint towns in the lake, the houses
built on stilts, where every body goes about their
business in long boats and small children row their
own little boats to their floating school?

Inle Lake was a
great experience for our family (2 ad + 3 children)
and Pristine Lotus was the perfect choice, nice and
comfortable bungalows, good service and food, and
great Spa facilities.
